It’s the music event of every pet lover’s dreams – and it’s happening in Melbourne with a whole lot of cute puppers and quality tunes.
Now in it’s third year after wowing crowds with the first two instalments, this is Melbourne’s first dog-friendly music festival held at Richmond’s Burnley Park. Dogapalooza is a lay-about-in-the-sun and take-it-down-a-notch offering, behold the wonder as a thousand dogs make friends and influence people to a soundtrack of Melbourne’s finest artists and Spring’s sunshine.
Expect everything from ethical eating options — with Rice & Dice, Pookie May Coffee, Let’s Waffle & Shake, Moon Dog Brewery and Bondi’s Funky Pies set to serve up more than a few treats — to boutique dog product vendors.
The lineup is just a good too, this year featuring both Lanks, the moniker of Australian songwriter, producer and multi-instrumentalist Will Cuming, Hayden Calnin whose music explores the realms of everything from folk through to downbeat electro, drawing comparisons to artists such as M83, Bon Iver and James Blake.
Official limited edition merchandise is available on site, as well as the uber exciting inaugural Dogapalooza Awards with categories including “best inner city hipster” and “quiet achiever”, for those of you who want to establish a social hierarchy, amongst the other owners at the dog park.
Tickets are on sale now (dogs are free – yahoo) . But rememeber, Dogapalooza isn’t just about a day of music-oriented bliss in the sun with your pet pooch, it’s also raining awesome funds that will go towards helping canines in need via Oscar’s Law and Melbourne’s dog rescue groups Stafford Rescue Victoria, Melbourne Animal Rescue and Puppy Tails Rescue.
