A Day on the Green is bringing Robbie Williams to Mt Duneed

He’s sold more than 77 million albums and has six of the top 100 best-selling records in British history. Robbie Williams, who has had 14 number one hits, will be heading to Mt Duneed for a very special performance at a day on the green early next year as part of his Heavy Entertainment Show World Tour.

Opening to rave reviews across Europe, the show will see Williams perform a glittering hit-laden set spanning his entire career, along with a couple of surprising covers as well.

“The heavy entertainment show,” explains Williams, “is every single moment on earth – we’re all part of the heavy entertainment show.”

From his breakthrough global smash hit ‘Angels’, through to pop anthems ‘Let Me Entertain You’, ‘Millennium’, ‘Come Undone’, ‘Kids’, ‘Feel’, ‘Rock DJ’, and more, Robbie Williams’ unparalleled catalogue is a career-defining generational soundtrack – a soundtrack he will be bringing to audiences atop the Mt Duneed winery hill.

“A day on the green has presented some incredible shows in the Geelong area with many world-class acts,” a day on the green promoter Michael Newton says.

“It’s been pretty crazy that we’ve done so many big shows like Fleetwood Mac, Elton John, Paul Simon and Sting, Leonard Cohen, Don Henley, Neil Young and Robbie, arguably, could be the biggest show of them all. Certainly, stage wise and production wise it’s going to be the biggest.

“Robbie himself calls it the greatest show on earth (which I love) so it must be pretty good,” he laughs. “We’re really proud that we’ve been able to bring that level of artist down to Geelong. That level of band has not toured in that region, or played in that region, pretty much ever. It’s a big undertaking, but it’s a lot of fun and it’s exciting and we’re hoping people turn up and have a great time.”

This summer season marks the 17th year of A Day on the Green which started back in January 2001, and is now held in 18 wineries and outdoor venues in all states of Australia. After more than 425 shows and three million happy patrons, the A Day on the Green experience of good food, good wine and great music is firmly established as one of Australia’s most popular concert events.

Robbie Williams is without doubt one of the most acclaimed and charismatic live performers of his time. With organisers working on securing Williams as early as March this year, Newton says that for this special show, they’re hoping to match the previous Mt Duneed Estate attendance record of 18,000, set by Fleetwood Mac in 2015.

This was the same year as the British singers last time down under, when he wowed local audiences with his epic Let Me Entertain You tour, which saw him perform countless sold-out arena shows around the country.

“I saw Robbie on his first or second tour when he performed at Rod Laver, but I’ve never seen him on one of the massive outdoor shows that he’s done here, so it’s been a while,” Newton says.

Robbie Williams live 1

Williams joined Take That in 1990 at only 16, and almost 30 years later has achieved a total of 18 Brit Awards as a solo artist. Williams’ writing, recording and performances have set him apart in making lasting impact on British culture, recognising the very highest level of British musical achievement. And he’s not slowing down any time soon, recently announcing he will be releasing a new record called Under The Radar Volume 2 in November this year with previously unheard material across his solo career.

Currently touring The Heavy Entertainment Show across Europe and the UK as we speak, Robbie Williams will be in top form when he lands in Australia for his performance next year, which according to Newton, will be just full on entertainment.

“That’s what he’s known for, it’s just a really fun show with a lot of great songs. We’re working on two special guests as well that we can’t announce just yet, but we will soon enough.

“This is going to be very, very special. Robbie Williams is an incredible entertainer and he’s bringing his A-game to Geelong,” he says. “Come to the show and as Robbie says, ‘Let him entertain you’.”
