Connor – if you don’t know the name, now would be the time to pay attention.
Today officially releasing his first music video with Around You feat. Krue film, the track is a sign of good things to come.
Previously going under the name Female, Daylesford born and bred Darcy Thornycroft is reborn as Connor, whose textured songwriting and atmospheric production draws influences from the likes of SG Lewis, Atu and Ta-ku.
Linking up with the German vocalist, with whom Thornycroft connected online late last year, Around You is a deep, meditative and engrossing piece of electronica, densely layered and atmospheric.
According to Krue, the track “is about a really deep connection to a person you’ve just met that you don’t really know. It feels like finding home in that person, but on the other hand they are still a stranger.”
With the new project name comes a renewed focus on a more personal take on production for Thornycroft, and Around You is a beautiful first step ahead of an EP, due later this year.
“This is my first ever music video, which I am extremely proud of. It was a pleasure to see it all come together and really give the song a special piece to make it feel truly complete.There was so much effort and time that was put into the making of the track and video, I am so excited to be showing it to the world today.”
His music is emotionally gripping, splicing together the beauty between his synthetic and organic worlds.
