Lincoln Le Fevre and The Insiders: Come Undone

You’ve just partied your heart out on New Year’s Eve in the arms of your mates and now the dawn is calling. It’s time to pack up stumps and head home and on the drive out of the campground, you and your friends start singing along euphorically, at what you’ve all just experienced. This is what the opening cut Ugly Enough from Lincoln Le Fevre’s new album Come Undone sounds like. It’s approachable as an album opener and one that you can definitely sing along with.

As a guitarist, one of the most enticing things to this release is the lush variety of tones that are produced throughout Come Undone’s 10 tracks. The edgy distortion of guitars in Summerhat feels like an accompaniment to a packed collective mosh pit jump, and the slow rock ballad feel of The Get Go sounds a little like early Death Cab for Cutie.

It’s easy to get lost in the mystical feel of this album. It’s velvet rock that will soundtrack your summer roadtrip and make the summer stretch on forever. Le Fevre’s narrative approach to Songwriting and unique honey dripped vocal style comes to a head in Gaslight City. Come Undone is on high rotation in my car stereo, is it on yours yet? Because it should be.
