Splendor in the Grass Essentials

It’s nearly time, festival-goers for one of the unrivalled Australian Music Festivals, Splendor in the Grass!

With all the commotion and excitement over seeing amazing acts such as The XX, Vance Joy, Tash Sultana and over 100 more performances across three action-packed days, it is possible that some handy essentials may have been forgotten during your crazed packing period.

Get the glitter and the gum boots because it’s going to be an awesome weekend and if you can’t make you can totally just tune into Triple J.

Some things to bring

Your Ticket
Don’t forget your ticket. AND your ID. For the love of God don’t forget these two things please.

A handy backpack
Your pockets are not going to hold everything and the weather can be more bipolar than Melbourne. So find a cute backpack to store all the essentials and save you wishing you’d brought that extra pair of socks…

Layers!
Tights, jackets, multiple shirts or a fun poncho – these roll up small into your day bag or tie it around your waste. Saves you freezing your butt off and you can always take clothes off!

Gumboots
This one is a given. With so many different styles out there, these babies can match any outfit or style preference. Also back some proper gum boot socks or you are just going to have wet cold dry muddy legs. Comfort is totally key to last the whole three days.

Asos have a whole heap online so have a look here if your in need.

Battery pack and zip locks for your phone!
There’s so many battery packs out there, you are spoiled for choice – and they are super tiny so you can keep it in your pocket. And at the end of the day, we all need phone charge… because how else would we post the compulsory festival pic on Instagram or Snapchat?

Zip lock bag for iPhone or if you don’t trust yourself with your band new phone take a good old Nokia phone that you probably have still lying around in the cupboard. No rain or mud is going to ruin your phone and it’s perfect for those who can go one day without dropping their phone.

Raincoat or windproof jacket
Umbrellas are a big no-no at festivals – no one wants to get their eye poked out while listening to their fave bands. If you don’t want to splurge for your Splendour budget (cheapskate), you can pick up ponchos at most $2 shops!

A car jump starter
After a long weekend of partying and the inevitable lengthy road trip home, it would be pretty much every party goers worst nightmare if your car’s battery was flat. We love the LASER PBCJ6000 Power Bank and Car Jump Starter and for $79.95, this nifty little gadget can charge any USB device as well as jump start your car’s battery and fits neatly into your glove box for a handy piece of mind in emergency situations.

Group costumes
What better way to find each other and also look totally babin’. But if you can’t agree on a group costume, it’s time to great your unique hand signal… last year we saw mannequin heads, donut inflatables and even a pinata. This will be handy when your squad is moving between stages and finding the other members who have wondered off.

Snacks
The last thing you’ll want to do is pass out in the mosh from hunger so stash a few snacks. You won’t need to worry about bigger meals because all the food trucks have you covered, but for quick bites think museli bars, sesame snaps, Le Snaks – anything in waterproof and mud proof packaging

Keep clean with baby wipes
If you are going all out and camping, baby wipes and dry shampoo are your new bestfriends. You can have a babywipe shower and get crazy with dry shampoo every day without standing in a three hour long queue for a real shower – ain’t no body got time for that when Thundamentals are playing.

Tissues
You don’t want to be caught with your pants around your ankles with no toilet paper in sight. ALWAYS carry a little packet of tissues. Super handy for sticky situations…

And of course, the basics
A torch, hand sanitiser, Gatorade/Electrolites for the next day, portable speakers, cards against humanity, condoms, a garbage bag to put your muddy gumboots in, sunnies – hangover you will love you for this and EXTRA socks – your feet will get wet, cold and muddy.

Whether or not you forget your festival essentials, you are still sure to have the time of your life… but having the backup is probably not a bad idea!
