Geelong-born rock star Chrissy Amphlett is being honoured with a mural

Geelong will finally honour late home-grown rock star Chrissy Amphlett with a mural to be installed in the city’s arts precinct.

Growing up in Geelong, the Divinyls frontwoman went on to become one of the world’s best known female rock performers before sadly passing away from breast cancer in 2013.

The mural will be painted by local airbrush artist Ian Lowe and will celebrate Amphlett’s life, becoming a feature in McLarty Place, which runs off Little Malop Street.

It is one of two new art installations about to be added to the CBD as part of the multi-million dollar Revitalisng Central Geelong project.

One thing is for sure, she’ll finally receive the home-town honour she deserves.
