10 acts we’ve got our eyes on in regional Victoria

The Rowletts

Owning the #3350 postcode, The Rowletts are taking things up a notch with their first headline show at Karova Lounge in Ballarat this weekend. Check them out if you’re a fan of alt surf rock sounds.

Aya Aya

Aya Aya have been at it for quite some time, but we thought we’d bring them to your attention (that is, if they aren’t already). It’s the kind of music you sit back and really listen to and the kind of psych-shoegaze rock that Geelongians love.

Phaedo

Phaedo recently hosted their first headline show in Geelong, and it was a pretty good night all round. They bring some alternative rock/dream pop to town. Listen to them over here.

Isabella Khalife

Fresh out of studying music in Geelong, Isabella Khalife has has a few gigs around the region and graced our pages at Forte Magazine. Her music is heartfelt, covering topics we should all dicsuss a lot but made easy-listening thanks to her pristine vocals.

The Floaties

Mix 70s rock, grunge rock and psych in one big melting pot and add some deep, gravelly vocals and you’ve pretty much hit The Floaties on the head. Or at least as close as you’ll possibly ever get it.

JANEVA

Coming from a Sweethearts background, JANEVA’s music is a little bit pop, a little bit urban grooves and dance but with a whole lot of soul in the vocals. Her newest single ‘You & I’ has been blasted many times around the Forte office.

Velvet Bow

Adding some horns and Velvet Bow just took their music up a notch. What was already becoming a well-crafted blend of fuzz-pop, alt-rock, they are becoming a fast favourite in the region.

Wax Nomads

Celebrating one-year of party making and sweaty dance floors, Wax Nomads have been helping Ballarat locals get off their arses and enjoy themselves for quite some time. There isn’t a standard Wax Nomads feel, but that’s exactly what’s so appealing about it. Check them out here.

Bec Goring

Paying homage to blues and soul singers of the past, Bec Goring is a refreshing musician in the region. Her lyrics have a very story-like quality to them with personal takes on things like 90s pop culture.

Luke Biscan

Another familiar name in Geelong, Luke has new music in the works and while you may have seen him at pubs as the catalyst to your dancing on a night out, his vocal talent is one to marvel at as is his ability to evoke so much emotion through his lyrics.
