The Eat Local Food Month events left to go to this month

After its success in the last two years, Eat Local Month has expanded from eight local food events to 13 that showcase and recognise the food and farming industry in the Surf Coast and Otway regions.

Ranging from Sunday Sessions at various wineries to farmers markets, chocolate making classes to Greek food nights, the festival has something to offer everyone of every age group and is a great opportunity to support local produce.

There is a week left of Eat Local Month and below are some of the events that you should get yourself down to, to help support our region’s finest.

Junior Chocolatier classes, April 6-29 

Held in the ‘parent free zone’, kids aged 6-12 can learn from chocolatiers how to make their own chocolate creations. $40 gets you a personalised badge, chefs hat, apron and graduation certificate, as well as tour own chocolate creations.

The New Breed, April 22

Little Green Corner are hosting a talk with four unique growers who have joined the local food movement and made a job of it. Enjoy a lunch sourced entirely from local ingredients all prepared by the lovely people at Little Green Corner.

Surf Coast Sundays @ Bellbrae Estate, April 23

Sit back and relax with some fine wine, cheeseboards and great music at Bellbrae Estate’s cellar door on Sunday.

Sunday Sessions, April 23 

Live music accompanied by Wolseley Wines and gourmet pizzas, while admiring the picturesque vineyard.

Children’s Story Time, April 27

All ages are welcome to come and join in The Farmer’s Place Story Time and listen to a story that has an environmental theme.

Eat Greek night, April 29

Anglesea Community Garden are putting on a ‘Greek Taverna’ so celebrate the seasonal foods grown in their garden.

Chocolate Discovery Class, April 29

$48 will get you a class full of hands-on chocolate discovery experience, from truffle tasting to creating your own giant lollipop. Head on date to the Great Ocean Road Chocolatarie and Ice Creamery to indulge in all things chocolate.

The Farmers Place Farmers Market, April 30

With special guest Rebecca Sullivan, experience a hands-on workshop full of tips and tricks to take home your own kitchen.

Artisan Food and Fibre Showcase, April 30  

Take a trip down to the Colac Showgrounds to taste the local food and wines and chat to the growers themselves, all while listening to local live music.
