A barber in Ballarat is partnering with Headspace for men’s mental health

Headspace Ballarat has teamed up with Musket and Bayonet barber, Jim Morrison, to create a men’s health hub.

Morrison said to The Ballarat Courier that half of his job involves talking to clients, and he aims to extend this latent therapy by hosting social evenings.

The initiative comes in partnership with Andy Penny from Headspace, with the nights set to be an opportunity for men to get together to chat and offload – and get a haircut while they’re there.

According to the Australia Bureau for Statistics, only one in four men with depression or anxiety will seek help.

The group will hopefully be up and running by mid-year.

For support and advice contact Beyond Blue on 1300 22 4636.

You can find Musket and Bayonet on Facebook or at 10 Doveton St, Ballarat.
