Thanks to Music Victoria, a brand new and vibrant program has been created to help create a sustainable live music sector. The Live Music Professionals Program is a free opportunity for established independent promoters and venue bookers in Victoria’s music community.
Project manager Sarah Deborre explains some of the benefits that successful applicants will be able to utilise to help strengthen the presence of live music.
All participants in the Live Music Professionals program will have three one-hour, one-on-one sessions with professional coaches. These sessions will be an invaluable opportunity for our participants to spend time with industry leaders who can provide coaching in a specific area of interest. For example, a coaching session could be anything from meeting with an accountant in relation to book-keeping, to meeting with an established promoter to explore event programming, or even a session with a safety officer to explore hazard and risk management.
Networking will be a major aspect of Live Music Professionals. Not only will participants have the opportunity to network with the professional coaches, but they’ll also form networks with fellow participants. Music Victoria will also provide great networking opportunities for its participants at Face The Music and The Age Music Victoria Awards, broadening the opportunities for participants to meet a variety of people in the industry.
A number of specialised small group workshops will be hosted specifically for our participants, providing assistance in a number of areas.
Face The Music
Everyone involved in Live Music Professionals will receive complimentary tickets to Victoria’s annual two day music conference, Face the Music. Participants will have access to all of the normal programming, as well as being involved in specialised activities designed solely for them.
The Age Music Victoria Awards
Live Music Professionals will conclude with complimentary tickets to Music Victoria’s annual awards night which will be another great networking opportunity and a fun way to conclude the unique program.
