CHILD is an ever-evolving blues band forged in the rock underground of Melbourne. The new album Blueside is the follow-up to 2014’s self-titled affair, which took the band to European clubs and festivals. It features new bassist, Danny Smith.
Hi, thanks for chatting with Forte! Can you introduce yourselves?
Right now I’m Mathias, a part of CHILD. I play guitar and sing words.
Describe your latest LP ‘Blueside’ – do you think it will be different touring this one then your first debut album?
Yeah I would think so, as we are more experienced and better at touring this time. Naturally, we would hope this record brings a few more heads out of the woodwork also.
Is there a particular track from the new album that is your favourite playing live?
‘The Man’ is probably the number for me.
Tell us about the original oil painting for the album artwork.
The artwork was done by Nick Keller from New Zealand. Nick did the artwork for our first record and got it so right that we had to go with him again. He is exceptional at what he does.
As a band, do you guys have any resolutions for 2017?
We want to get another record out and tour as much as we can. Here in Australia and overseas.
If you could share the stage with one other band, who would that be?
I think that would be Buddy Guy or Black Sabbath.
