Frank Carter & The Rattlesnakes: Modern Ruin

Modern Ruin is the illusive return for English punk superstars Frank Carter and the Rattlesnakes. Following on from their debut album Blossom that was released back in 2015, Carter is back in a big way. Opening with ‘Bluebelle’, a somewhat quieter opening introduction to this album, Modern Ruin develops into a record that will get you moshing along in no time. A quick change in pace from the intro to ‘Lullaby’, the thundering boom of the drums like a werewolf going for the kill compliments Carter’s vocals that soar over the top of the overall sound.

From watching a few live clips online, The Rattlesnakes are one of the most energetic live bands I have seen in recent times and definitely know how to bring it to the stage. I would highly recommend checking these guys out when they tour again. Modern Ruin is an album that flows collectively from start to finish. My favourite track is the album closer ‘Neon Rust’ that sounds a little bit like a rockier Band of Horses. If you are looking for a bit of rock to wake you up from your festive summer slumber get around Modern Ruin. Well done Mr Carter for delivering on album #2.
