If you’re not currently at a festival bringing in New Years and you’re currently without plans – or perhaps you’ve just been waiting for the right ones to come along – here are a few ways for you to bring in 2017 around the region.
Irish Murphy’s
With a glass of champagne on arrival (we’ve seen the bottles online for proof) and entertainment from Brodie Farlech, Irish Murphy’s is a point of difference to other venues in Geelong. Offering a homely pub style, there’s even the chance to stop in for dinner before their party kicks off at 7pm and runs until early New Year’s Day. See the event page for more info.
Timmy Trumpet at the Pier
Kicking off at 8pm, this year’s party is set to be the biggest New Year’s Eve on the Pier event. Attendees will get prime viewing of the Geelong waterfront fireworks, as well as entertainment from Timmy Trumpet, JDG, Jesse James and more. Tickets are a bit more on the pricey side, but included is 10 drinks, finger food and priority entry into the Lamby’s after party. See the event page for more info.
Home House
Without fail, Home House is open to see in your public holiday celebrations, particularly after a lengthy Christmas holiday coverage. Their New Year’s Eve features Lucille Croft, Kat Niall, Samuel James, Chardy and more. Located right near the waterfront, it’s a quicks slip out the front to catch the fireworks. Sphinx Hotel
Who can forget the iconic Sphinx hotel? Hosting some memorable events through the year, drag shows and strip shows to name a few, the venue is set to host one of its biggest parties of the year. Bring in the New Year with the ‘Venus NiteClub Reunion’ party at the hotel with a set from Frequency and various DJs. Head to the event page for more info.
Handle Bar
Open until 1am, Handle Bar in Bendigo will keep you lubricated with some of the finest craft beers, ciders and wines. There’s also a line up of acoustic acts and DJs performing throughout the evening. Find out more via the event page.
Highline bar + lounge
It’s worth heading to this joint simply for the setup alone. Located in Warrnambool, the Highline is a massive bar with balcony that’s great even for a few relaxed drinks. However, this New Year’s Eve they take things up a notch with Melbourne cover band Party Rock playing all your faves, and there’s set to be a few surprises at midnight. Torquay Hotel
There’s something about spending time at the beach all New Year’s Eve (and it’s the right weather for it) before strolling up the road for a night of great music, drinks and company. That’s exactly what you’ll be able to do at the Torquay Hotel’s party, there’ll be DJ Jimi Crisp and Peoples Poets, so don your finest beach party get-ups and head down. Event page for more info.
Lorne Hotel
If you’re a beach going, party type, the Lorne Hotel can be your venue. Located overlooking the beach, their celebrations kick off at 9pm and run until 3am. It all takes place at the bottom bar of the three-level venue. See the event page for more info.
Hop Temple – Woodford Reserve Speakeasy
Things get seriously fancy with Hop Temple’s roaring 20s New Year’s Eve party. Tickets are limited and include a roaming banquet, all tap beer and cider as well as a wide selection of wines and Woodford Reserve cocktails. Head to the event page for more info.
Lucy’s Laneway Party
After recently opening again after renovations, Lucy Laneway bar in Warrnambool is one of the places to be seen this summer. Their party kicks off at 3pm with DJs Corey Ryan and Josh Brown.
