A 75-metre waterslide is coming to Fed Square for summer

The heart of Melbourne will reinvent itself as the place to be this summer with Federation Square’s huge list of activities for tourists and locals alike, including a 75-metre waterslide.

Christmas festivities will kick off the program, starting with a six-metre-high, glittering white Christmas bauble installed in the square and the Christmas projection show’s flashing colours and animated characters lighting the place up every night till the end of December.

Koorie heritage will be acknowledged and celebrated with the Koorie Krismas event, where there’ll be live music from Culture Evolves and Tongberang’I Ngargga Inc, decoration workshops, and a special visit from Koorie Klaus.

A Festive Fair will make Christmas shopping easier this year, presenting a bunch of market stalls that showcase crafts, treats, gifts, and more. All the while, there’ll be performances by the Choir of Hard Knocks and Gruppo Culturale Italiano Choir with Christmas movies showing for the whole family.

On fateful Christmas Eve, families can come enjoy a special concert by The Jingle Belles! singing Christmas classics, followed up by the iconic Carols by Candlelight footage on the big screen.

New Year is just around the corner, and on NYE you can ring in 2017 with your loved ones and enjoy Fed Square’s diverse live music program featuring everything from salsa to hip hop.

The summer program will also see the return of ‘Slide the Square’. Cool down in the heat and bring your friends to this gigantic, 75-metre waterslide, which will be open all day.

The square’s summer concert series of refreshing local musicians, and their health and fitness events, Summer In Motion, cap off the massive summer program, and both won’t cost you a cent.

Summer in Fed Square kicks off from Tuesday November 29 till Thursday February 16. Head here for the full program list.
