We’re a death metal band from Melbourne. Just 4 mates having a good time, and keeping ourselves entertained by playing the music that we want to hear, not worrying about what’s considered to be ‘cool’… hell, look at our name… clearly not worried about being ‘cool’!
Tell us about the name ‘Blunt Shovel’ .. what’s the story behind that one?
We were without a name most of the writing process for the 1st album. We couldn’t settle on anything, as the writing progressed there was a pretty obvious tongue in cheek approach happening with the lyrics. We figured we’d keep the theme going.
The name actually came from the title of one of our songs, ‘Blunt Shovel Proposal’. We thought it was the right amount of stupid, and memorable all at once. As for the meaning behind it… probably not fit for print!
Can you tell us anything about your debut album dropping soon?
The album has been a LONG time in the making. We actually recorded it a year and a half ago and I guess we got sidetracked having fun and forgot that we had to release it at some point.
We’ve worked with some great people through the whole process and it’s being released January 17, through Goatsound/Galma Grind Records.
What’s your favourite song to perform?
‘I Am A Fox’… Which is a bit of a bugger because that song is actually going to be on the second album, so we won’t be playing it for the album tour. Ironic? Probably. Ah well.
Where can we see/listen to you?
People can find our ‘Destination Dog Food’ video clip on youtube at the moment. We have a new video clip being launched mid December, which will be a fun one.. because why not?
