Music producer and Geelong local Daniel Modica, aka Tiber, is making waves in the industry after making his namesake public in 2014.
Since 2014 he has been uploading madly to Soundcloud and triple j unearthed, receiving rave reviews for his fresh take on trap music – which was seen by some as becoming less frequent in the industry.
Dom Alessio of triple j’s Home and Hosed said in a review Tiber’s “bringing funk back to the dancefloor”, and Dave Ruby Howe called the song ‘Summer Nights’ a hot number. Alessio also recently played Tiber’s new track ‘Wings’ on Home and Hosed – so we imagine it’s going to be onwards and upwards from here.
Tiber has been making himself known in Geelong clubs and is now getting gigs up in Melbourne as well. With acts like King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard, Evangeline and The Murlocs doing Geelong proud, we’re already feelin’ pretty mum-ish over what Tiber has achieved so far.
Tiber’s new EP Self Control coming out this Friday, November 18 featuring five tracks, all mixed and mastered (and even the cover art) by Tiber himself. It’s released under the new label Trench Records. Also check Tiber’s Facebook page for upcoming gigs.
