Bringing Ballarat’s Iconic Spaces to Life

Ballarat’s position as a melting pot of arts, culture and music is set to be further solidified with the advent of the inaugural SongWays Music Festival.

Launched by the City of Ballarat, the three-day music event will celebrate the depth and diversity of performance talent in the region.

Featuring ticketed events as well as free gigs, SongWays will be held between October 14 and October 16 at a wide range of venues and iconic spaces throughout Ballarat.

Visit Ballarat chief executive officer Noel Dempsey said it was exciting to have an all-encompassing music event head to the city.

“SongWays will showcase the full spectrum of genres including jazz, folk, rock, blues, and pop, performed by some of the region’s most-talented names as well as some Aussie greats the likes of Kevin Borich,” he said.

“Events like this solidify our presence in Australia’s arts and cultural space while attracting punters from near and far.”

Held as part of the spring Season of the Arts, the SongWays gigs will be held at venues such as The Main Bar, Suttons House of Music, Babushka Lounge, and Karova Lounge.

“We are lucky in Ballarat to have a huge range of music venues at our disposal, and SongWays will put these spaces under the spotlight and showcase what our city is capable of,”Mr Dempsey said.
