Peter, Bjorn and John: Breakin’ Point

You know those kind of songs that have everyone up and dancing, flinging their hands and heads around in all kinds of fashions? That’s exactly this release. Nail on the head. Do I even need to go on with this review? Nonetheless, it’s a heavy pop-driven, synth collection of tracks that don’t hold back on hitting listeners hard with the beat. Another thing they don’t hold back on is the catchy rhyming lyric structure, in ‘Dominos’ you’ll soon find yourself singing along to: “on the downtown train with my ball and chain/I’ve been on the floor and shown the door”.

‘Do Si Do’, ‘Breakin’ Point’ and ‘Hard Sleep’ are the highlights on the release and continue the rhyming, up-beat, high-pop theme. If there’s one issue, it’s for anyone who isn’t feeling in a good mood, this would be about as annoying as someone shoving a slice of toast in your face when you’re full. Given these guys are heading to Splendour in the Grass in a matter of weeks, there’s no doubt that everyone will be up dancing.
