‘Winter-Warmer’ Drinking Holes in the Region

It’s only day three into winter and I’ve already spent half of it huddled around a heater. Conversations have already started revolving around the weather and the notion that I wouldn’t survive a GoT winter alone has crossed my mind several times.

Whilst sipping on hot coffees, teas and chocolates are perfect for getting you through the working day, when it comes to night or the weekend, sometimes that just don’t cut it.

Get out of your home made blanket igloo, take off those sweats and get to some of these warm and inviting bars for a night of mulled wine, laughs and actual social activity.

Captain Bar, Geelong

[Featured Image] While this may be an outside venue, Captain is one of the best spots to get snuggly, camp beside one of the many outdoor heaters and cradle a $5 mulled wine in your hands.

Where: Tolmie Place, Geelong

Noble Rot Wine Store and Bar, Point Lonsdale

Situated in the heart of Point Lonsdale, this wine store/bar is a great place to enjoy coastal views and a glass of wine or two from their large selection of local and international wines. Perfect for those who are interested in the cultivation of wine, with the owners and occasional connoisseurs available to chat with you about all things grape.

Union Street Wine, Geelong

If you’re in the Geelong CBD and want a cheeky glass after work, Union Street Wine is your best bet. This cosy nook is perfect for those who love something that little bit French, prefer to buy a bottle and enjoy it with some cheese and olives. Delish.

Where: 6-8 Union St, Geelong

Hop Temple, Ballarat

The latest ultra cool laneway bar, Hop Temple is rightly earning a reputation for providing sweet vibes to relax and have a drink. Not just for craft beer, Hop Temple also moonlights as a wine bar and has a bunch of sharing plates for you and your friends!

The Perfect Drop, Daylesford

If you have a chance to get to this boutique wine bar, it’s absolutely gorgeous. Warm, inviting and intimate it’s great for some wine and food. It’s a little bit fancy, but there’s nothing stopping you from swirling that wine glass and saying ‘fabulous darling’.

Where: 5 Howe St, Daylesford

Leura Park Estate, Bellarine

The Cellar Door at Leura Park Estate is optimal for a good wine night, considering they specialise in their own wines, have delicious pizza AND even have their own wine club which you can sign up for. It’s a grape experience. (I had to I’m sorry.)

Where: 1400 Portarlington Road, Curlewis

Winter is coming, but so is wine.
