Backspace Gallery is a Ballarat City Council initiative designed to support local & regional artists by exhibiting quality contemporary visual art, design & craft.
Situated in the heart of the CBD Arts Precinct, Backspace Gallery is a fixture in the local arts scene credited with filling the need for an accessible exhibition space celebrating the rich mix of arts practice. Geelong Art Society & the Shearer’s Arms Gallery
The Shearer’s Arms gallery, which dated back to 1847, was acquired by the Society in1987 and is now its base. It contains a large purpose built studio, four gallery display rooms, a well-equipped office and a kitchen. The building is the oldest surviving building in Geelong West and following an agenda from the Heritage Society is slowly being renovated. Various workshops, classes and exhibitions are run throughout the year. Coming up is a limestone carving workshop with Jacinta Leitch on May 21. The annual Bequest Exhibition will open from May 3-28 featuring artworks from many of the talented members of the art society.
