Tijuana Cartel Lock in Torquay Hotel

First broadcast in 1978, ‘What’s Rangoon to You is Grafton to Me’ is a short-story about a summer hitchhiking adventure that was turned into a radio play. Written by Russell Guy, the cult classic inspired Psychedelicatessen, the 2015 album from Tijuana Cartel.

The lads approached Russell to ask him if they could use his material, and the feedback Russell gave was better than any five-star review: “This new album pings on cruise control as it translates, engages and navigates the worldwide plague of earthquakes, terrorism, crime, corruption, scoffers, mockers, volcanic eruptions and psycho-babble, while segueing into a groove that the Gobble-up Machine can’t follow”.

Torquay Hotel, Torquay – May 7.
