Quban’s Ain’t No Siesta

With an already incredible venue in Quban, when John Kennedy, Matt Hayes and Isaac Fryar put their heads together they managed to create something else even more incredible: Geelong’s first regular car park party.

“The brainchild of the idea was my good friend John Kennedy,” Isaac says.

“He has a stunning venue at Quban, and enlisted the help of Matt Hayes and myself to curate a day party using a truly unique space in Geelong – being a carpark. The idea is incredible, parties like this don’t happen too often due to all of the red tape with council. We are truly blessed to be a blue to hold events like this in Geelong.”

Once the idea was suggested, the team got to work, ensuring every element was done to the best of their ability to make Ain’t No Siesta one of the most unique alternatives to your standard night out or party in a pub courtyard.

“We are going from strength to strength and look forward to running more unique parties using creative concepts and stunning locations in the future,” he teases.

The next Ain’t No Siesta party held on April 16 marks the final party for the season before returning again in summer, though things are finishing off with a bang thanks to PLEASUREKRAFT’s set.

“I’ve had the opportunity to support them many times as a DJ, and when our good friend Aaron Cashion from Pivot City came to us with the idea of going all out and adding an international artist of such high calibre to a show, it was a no brainer. Expect big rolling tech house with some truly big breakdowns followed by some hands up and screaming!” he says.

“An act of this calibre really helps put both us at Quban and Geelong in general on the map as a real party destination. I cannot wait!”

While this is the last Ain’t No Siesta for the team for several months, there are plans to create some more iconic events. Utilising the skills the group first developed as they cut their teeth at 4Play, Sins on Sunday and Revolver.

“Music and venue originality are key. If the space is unique, interesting and makes people think, ‘How did they get that?’, then you are off to a good start,” he says.

With the party kicking off at 1pm, grab yourself some smoked brisket and a cocktail from the restaurant and settle in for a big night you won’t forget.

“There is literally nothing better than having a few drinks during the day with the sun shining listening to quality music in a great atmosphere. Round up your mates, get some brekky and get going!”
