Violent Soho: WACO

If you’re a lover of Violent Soho, I can say with 99.4% certainty that this will be another release from the band you’ll love. Hell, I do. This is Hungry Ghost’s “older sister” and where the past released touched on some heavier topics WACO embraces them fully.

The best thing about Violent Soho songs is that they instantly capture that “live feel” whether you’re sitting in your lounge room, car or front row at an actual gig. ‘Blanket’ is a highlight for this reason, and the timing and breaks between each element of the song is spot on. ‘Sentimental’ slows things down and is a classic heartfelt song, “when the walls collapse around the heart” brings it a little closer to home.  But the lyrics are about much more than that, have a listen. Another track that’s also a bit of a slow burner is ‘Slow Waver’, making itself a highlight along with ‘Holy Cave’ and ‘Viceroy’.

To sum it up, WACO is another release from Violent Soho that firmly reassures fans they’re on the money when it comes to grunge rock.
