I feel kinda bad about going on and on and on about all these rad music festivals happening overseas, so I’m just gonna let y’all know about one more exciting prospect before retiring the topic for a little bit. The 9th annual Amnesia Rock Fest will be taking place this June (20-21st) in Montebello, Canada, and has a line-up that is nothing short of jaw dropping: Motley Crue, NOFX, Megadeth, Weezer, Lagwagon, Cypress Hill, Danzig, Anti-Flag, Dead Kennedys, Henry Rollins…
While Australia certainly isn’t LACKING in festivals, it does seem that we’ll never get to experience the ginormous multi-day festivals Europeans take for granted every summer. The Reading and Leeds festivals in the UK are beyond ridiculous, as you probably know from reading English language music magazines, but another festival with a similar set up (two cities at the same time; shared line-up over several days) is Germany’s Rock am Ring and Rock im Park, taking place in Nurnberg and Nuremberg this June.
Wow, more awesome overseas festival news that shows, once and for all, that Australian promoters need to get their shit together. Heavy Montreal takes place this year on August 9th and 10th – in Montreal, funnily enough! The line-up for this two-day affair includes Metallica, Slayer, Anthrax, Bad Religion, DRI, Body Count, Dropkick Murphys, Pennywise, Madball, Lamb of God, The Offspring, Fucked Up, Three Doors Down and dozens more.
We’re slowly getting closer to the April 8 release date for OFF!’s brand new album, Wasted Years. It features the first single Void You Out, and will be epic. The always epic Bayside have finally dropped their brand new album, Cult, through independent heavyweights Hopeless Records. Eleven new songs to hold us over til the […]
Woot! There’s a new Me First and the Gimme Gimmes album on the way. The record will feature punk rock versions of songs by divas of the Christina Aguilera/Mariah Carey/Barbara Streisand/Lady Gaga variety. Even so, it’s gonna be AMAZING! This tour better come out to Australia, because if it DOESN’T… *shakes fist*
Lead guitarist Greg Hetson has parted ways with Bad Religion for personal reasons. Filling in from this point on is John Dimkich from The Cult – interesting choice; let’s see how it pans out! Local alt-rock heroes ODD have a huge one coming up at the Barwon Club this Friday night (February 7th, to be exact!) with headliners SONS OF STEREO and hardcore punks HOPES ABANDONED opening. This will be Hopes Abandoned’s first show in Forte territory in almost two years. Get there early, it’s gonna be a doozy!
