Looking for a good book? Check out For the Sake of Heaviness: the History of Metal Blade Records for something that you can judge by its title. It was written by Metal Blade founder and CEO Brian Slagel with Mark Eglinton and features a foreword by Lars Ulrich. The release of the book also celebrates the label’s 35 year anniversary.
If you’re like me and you feel like we here down under are being ignored by the rest of the metal music festival world (what, with no more Soundwave) then this may be good news. In a recent promo interview, Slipknot and StoneSour frontman Corey Taylor has been quoted saying “we’d definitely love to bring it [Knotfest] down here [to Australia]” and the reason Knotfest was never bought down under before is because they didn’t want to “step on anyone’s toes”.
Is it just me or are people getting dumber by the day? Last issue I mentioned Linkin Park vocalist Chester Bennington’s threat against people who call the band’s newest release a sell out and now this issue I can’t go past mentioning Kathy Griffin’s recent attempt to deflect hate aimed at her to metal bands.
