On Friday October 30 the first 2016 Soundwave line up was announced. This announcement comes pretty late in comparison to when previous year’s announcements came and the list seems pretty light on, again, in comparison to previous year’s single and two day events.
There have been a couple of stories in the metal media about how hard it is for metal musicians to make a living from their music. I’m talking intentionally touring bands at that. Making no money and being on the dole whilst you’re proficient in metal music should surprise no one, especially the metal “journos”.
Our paranoid Federal Government recently provided schools with “Radicalisation Awareness Kits” which advised of a possible (and rather tenuous) link between the “alternative music scene” and violent extremism as well as ideological violence.
Welcome to THTH, Forte’s premier source of all things heavy, hard, fast and metal.
It’s this time of year when the Soundwave rumour mill slowly begins to circulate; whispers and guesses which then ripple through the music community and music blogs.
Corey Taylor has been making metal headlines recently by calling out all sorts of shit during interviews. His first shot was aimed at Kanye West where he said something a long the lines of, if you need to call yourself the world’s greatest rock star (kinda like how Kanye refers to himself as) then you’re not the world’s greatest rock star. Seems fair enough. In a different (radio) interview, Corey then suggested Axl Rose stop being a “douchebag” by making Guns N Roses fans wait for up to three hours for the band to appear on stage. Again, seems fair enough.
